Last night I attended 2 events celebrating plus-size style during New York Fashion Week.
First was Curvy Night Out, presented by CURVY Magazine and Lord & Taylor. The event was emceed by Patty Hughes, CURVY Magazine’s creative director, and Lord & Taylor’s personal shopper/stylist, Micah Feliciano.
It was a pleasure to meet the magazine’s editor, Keke Simot and see, among others in attendance, model Faith Costa, blogger Natasha Nurse and artist Jonquel Norwood.
During the show, models Kristin, Delilah, Ghaniah, and Maggie featured outfits from from brands like Addition Elle’s Love and Legend, Michael Michel Kors Plus, Eileen Fisher Plus, Ralph Lauren Plus, Vince Camuto Plus, Melissa McCarthy’s Seven7, Calvin Klein Plus, Jessica Simpson Plus and JUNAROSE… several of which are available in sizes 14 – 24. I particularly liked the Collared Fit-and-Flare Dress and Ida Paisley Peasant Dress
(I do hope I spelled Ghaniah’s name correctly… she was such a fun and feisty model as you can see in this video of the event, courtesy of CURVY Magazine)
Next was the launch of designer Christian Sirano’s collection at the Lane Bryant flagship store on 34th Street. What a blast! The 2-story store was full to the rafters with guests, including models, bloggers and other industry leaders like Ashley Graham, Precious Lee, Marlene Matute (Big City, Curvy Girl, Thin Wallet), Shalee Medina (Bow Swank), Thamar Guerier (Musings of a Curvy Lady), Madeline Figueroa-Jones (editor-in-chief of Plus Model Magazine), Gwen DeVoe (founder of Full Figured Fashion Week), Jessica Torres and Steffany Bready-Edwards.
Mr Siriano gave interviews and posed for pictures including with yours truly
And I fell in love with a few pieces…
… like the Perforated Moto Jacket (which is a wee bit snug across my stomach. Ah, well.)
…and the Lace Circle Skirt (which I tried on and fit perfectly but I didn’t take a picture)
…. and the Lace Trim Fit and Flare Dress
So guess who’s going to show off some additions to her closet in the near future?
That’s it for now. Until we meet again, don’t forget how wonderful and amazing you are!
