Springing into Summer with Avenue

May is almost at an end. Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer is a little over a week away and the temperatures have FINALLY gotten warmer!! YAY!!

During the summer I’m usually in sleeveless dresses and tops. The warmth of the sun on my shoulders is such a great feeling. After YEARS of hiding my body in monochromatic, voluminous outfits, I now love bright colors, bold prints and silhouettes like skater and fit & flare that hug my curves just right. Avenue has lots of lovely choices and I couldn’t resist posing at our local pack with some of my favorites.

Abstract Seamed Fit and Flare Dress

I couldn’t resist the strokes of black and vivid blues when I spotted this dress. The 39″ length falls to just below my knees (I’m 5’2″ with plenty of boobs and stomach).

Floral Zip Skater Dress

I love florals and this dress with a flared skirt that also falls to just below my knees is perfect for summer. Leave the zipper up or pull it down a bit for sexy flair.

Paisley Cold Shoulder Dress

I mentioned this lovely, colorful dress in my previous post on paisley prints and just had to have it. I love its empire waist, cold shoulder and handkerchief hem details.

I paired all 3 dresses with the Elsie Criss Cross Hidden Wedge Sandal (available in black and brown) which are comfortable enough for all-day wear.

I post a lot about Avenue and here are some reasons why: it was one of the first shops I knew of (when I was in my 20’s) that carried contemporary styles for younger women AND in sizes up to 32. They also offer options for petite and tall women. Now, they’re one of the few brick-and-mortar stores near me. I prefer trying on clothes. It’s just not the same experience when browsing a website especially when the models don’t look like me. I may try and purchase from other retailers and designers but Avenue will always be my tried-and-true.

Until the next time, beauties, enjoy the sunshine!
