Hi Beauties! Happy International Women’s Day!!
As you may know, the organizers of January’s Women’s March called for a #DayWithoutAWomen, encouraging women to stay home from work today to acknowledge “the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socio-economic system–while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment, and job insecurity.”
Those who, like me, couldn’t take the day off from work were encouraged to wear red in solidarity and refrain from shopping except for small, women- and minority-owned businesses. THAT I could do!
I packed my breakfast and lunch (absolutely no shopping today!) and put on the reddest, prettiest dress that’s currently in my closet… the Classic Stripe Skater Dress from Society+… woman-owned business! I love how it fits, is so comfortable and, look, has pockets!!!!
On my way to work, I walked through Grand Central Terminal and met the lovely ladies from Pink Persistence who were handing out red & pink lapel ribbons and pink pussyhats. (Click here for more on the Pussyhat Project.) After proudly posed with my new hat and learning a bit about their work and crowdfunding, I went about my usual work routine, albeit with more red outfits than usual at the office.
That’s all for now, beauties. Hope you have a great evening!!!
